How can you go wrong with beef, bacon, smoked sausage, Bush’s® Baked Beans, and a handful of vegetables? You can’t — that’ll be delicious 10 times outta 10. This recipe is easy on the prep and super on the side whether you bake it, grill it, or smoke it.

Ingredients

Serves: 8 to 10
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tsp barbecue rub or hamburger seasoning
  • 12 oz smoked sausage, cut into bite-size pieces
  • ½ lb bacon, cut into bite-size pieces
  • ½ cup yellow onion, diced
  • ½ cup red pepper, diced
  • ½ cup green pepper, diced
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 2 (28 oz) cans Bush’s® Original Baked Beans
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 3 Tbsp yellow mustard
  • ½ lb bacon slices, partially cooked (optional)

Cooking Instructions

    PREHEAT

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

      Brown ground beef and season with barbecue rub. Drain fat.

      Brown sausage.

      Cook ½ lb bacon and reserve 2 tablespoons of fat.

      Sauté onion, peppers and garlic in reserved bacon fat.

      COMBINE

      In a 9 x 13-inch baking dish combine baked beans, cooked meats, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, and mustard.

      Top with additional bacon slices, if desired.
